Think Tanks for Human Rights

Q. Not everyone interpreted the Movement for Beauty and Justice as you intended. A blogger compared you to Zoolander, the model from the movie of that name, who made flimsy attempts at charity. Other critics noted that you were chosen one of Yale's most beautiful people. What was your reaction?

A. When I started the group, I had no idea anyone would react like that. To me, creating a time for people to engage in reading poetry together, or listening to music, just seems uncontestably like a positive thing. It seems like the arts are dismissed as being frivolous. When I started the Movement for Beauty and Justice, even my parents said, "Why don't you just do something that's not controversial? Like Model United Nations?" I would rather take the risk and achieve something positive and different and change people's perspective on the world than do something that's already been done.

hmm...yeah, I'm pretty sure ppl were thrown off by the name
