She spent the 1950s in New York City, where she shared her music with her circle of bohemian friends in Greenwich Village, but never made a commercial recording. Connie left New York discouraged — and in 1974 she wrote goodbye letters to her friends and family, and disappeared. If she's still around, she would be 86 today.
